Ch-ch-ch-changes...

So, I figured it was time to modify the blog again, seeing as how the Christmas season is over for everyone (in my house, Christmas decorations stay up until after Ukranian Christmas). I also decided to make the blog wider- with some of the posts, I felt like I was scrolling down the page FOREVER, and sometimes the archives were getting a little lengthy. And, I added some blog-pertinent photos under the header, so you can get a glimpse of the Family Homeowner! Keep checking back, though, as there's one more change to come!

On the basement front, there was a bit more progress yesterday....Shea from Eiffel came over and chipped off the incorrect backsplash, so it's ready for Travis the finishing carpenter to come back and install our laminate backsplash, to match our laminate countertops, and minimize the number of different finishes in the room.

To answer the unasked questions: Yes, I would have rather had a tile backsplash, to match the other backsplashes in the basement. But, on the other backsplashes, the tile matched one of the colors in the granite. We could NOT afford granite in the laundry room, so we went with laminate...meaning the tile matched NOTHING in the laundry room. It was just another color, and another finish. So, laminate it is- it's not as high-end looking, but at least it matches SOMETHING in the room.

And, I hate to mention this...but I am seriously considering whether we should have gone DARK with the other backsplashes, instead of light. I wonder if it would have minimized the visual difference between the granite and the tile. I wonder if it's too late to change my mind....thoughts?
