This is what years of paint fumes do to you...

So, I was home at lunch with the pup, and before I left I was chatting with the painter (he should be finished today!) He mentioned that he wanted to bring his laptop in, because he listened to podcasts of some radio show from Texas. I asked what it was about, and was regaled with the tales of what the American Government Is Doing Right Behind Our Backs!



Examples:



-The borders between Canada, the US and Mexico are going to be dissolved, creating one mega-country (What would we even call that? The United States of Canexico? Mexicanamerica?)



-The assassination of JFK was an inside job (insert dun Dun DUUUUUUUUUUUUN here).



-9/11 was also an inside job. (even bigger DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN).



-FEMA is setting up camps all over the US, as holding facilities, in preparation for food riots that are going to break out all over the US. He also advised me to start stockpiling seeds to grow my own food.



There was also a discussion of "world enslavement", but I kinda zoned out as I was making sure the front door was locked. I have never heard the term 'New World Order' used so many times in 10 minutes...nor have I ever heard anyone claim that 'all the research they did in the 80's....it's all happening NOW!'



All I can say is, if he knew the economic meltdown was coming 20-odd years ago, a heads up would have been nice. And, I am thankful I didn't bring up the moon landing.



I am also thankful I don't spend all day, every day, breathing paint fumes.



Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be in the basement with my canned goods and powdered food, making tinfoil hats for everyone.



P.S. I'm not dissing conspiracy theorists. I find conspiracy theories fascinating. However, I take them with a HUGE grain of salt, and I very firmly believe that people will find whatever evidence they want to find to support their position and beliefs. Maybe I'm just cynical and jaded beyond all reason (or alternately, completely brainwashed by THE MAN), but I don't believe that we've reached a true 1984-style, Orwellian existence, and I also don't believe that anyone has enough time, energy, or resources to consistently deceive the inhabitants of the planet. Even though there's a sucker born every minute (thanks P.T. Barnum!), and you can fool some of the people all of the time, you can't fool all of the people all of the time (I think I paraphrased that, and I don't know who I just plagiarized. If you're a descendant and I owe you royalties, let me know!)
