I missed the "It's the first of February, so one month of 2009 is officially over, only 11 more to go!" post.
I also missed the "Happy Groundhog's Day" post and the associated rant (Cole's Notes Version: Are we all so delusional that we're basing our weather forecasting on a large rat that is quite literally yanked from his hole, while still sleeping? Does nobody realize that whether or not the groundhog sees his shadow is dependent on the weather that day, which has no bearing on the weather in 6 weeks? And, weathermen can barely get tomorrow's forecast correct here in Calgary, the Farmer's Almanac is only right 80% of the time, but I'm supposed to believe in the forecasting powers of a RODENT?!?! And, we live in Calgary. WE HAD SNOW LAST MAY. Spring does not come early to this part of the world. Okay, done!)
I also missed posting a long, long LOOOOONG winded rant on Politics (long story short- the Canadian government is still standing, and we are NOT being sent back to the voting booth!) and my job (can be summed up thusly: Soul sucking torture. Bitter, bitter hatred.)
But, on to bigger and better things...

Do you see that? That is the corner where two walls meet- one which was repainted last week, and one that wasn't. Do you see a difference between them?
NEITHER DO I!!!!!
The painters finished late last week, and after a weekend of cure-time, I am happy to report that the colors and finishes match up perfectly! In addition, we had the sound guys come back out on the weekend- we couldn't get our cable in the basement to work properly...turns out, they'd forgotten to wire in the cable to one of our outlets. Oops! They were able to splice a cable onto the existing cable, and hook it up to our outlet, so now everything works as it should.
With those two things crossed off the list, the only people we're waiting on are the cabinet suppliers (big flippin' surprise!), with our replacement doors....and then the basement is officially finished!
And, in related good news, we got the call yesterday that our furniture was ready to be delivered! Once we get the new stuff moved in, and the old stuff moved around (we're actually reusing a lot of our stuff in different rooms!), we will be able to start organizing and completing our rooms....so that maybe, just MAYBE, we can feel like we actually LIVE in our house, instead of feeling like we're just passing through....
